Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

When Lucas was a baby and got fussy I would try to sing to him to calm him down. (Try being the key word!) Anyway- there were only two songs that he would stop crying for; the first being "We are a Happy Family" and the second "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". He's been a fan of balls (any kind) ever since he could hold one so we decided to do a baseball theme for his 2nd birthday. Nothing more fitting then "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"!

For some reason I decided to throw him a little party with a few of the kids I watch and a couple of his other friends. I got a little stressed before the party (what do I know about throwing birthday parties?) but it turned out great and I think all of the kids had a good time. Here are a few pictures of the party...

The whole group before we got started with the pinata. (L to R: Jayda, Rustyn, Lucas, Trevor, Trey, Boden, Shad and Payten)

On his actual birthday (May 26th) we had another party for him with just the family. Going along with the whole "baseball" theme, we served hotdogs and had peanuts and baseball cupcakes. Lucas got his own cake (which I made- with the decorating help from my good friend Chanda- thanks again!) and seriously got spoiled! He got movies, toys and tons of summer clothes. His favorite things he received were the whole collection of Shrek and the dragon "Toothless". Thanks to everyone for making his 2nd birthday so wonderful! Here are some pictures...

Here is a little bit about Lucas, at 2 years...
Weight: 26 lbs. (25%)
Height: 34 in. (40%)

*He is really starting to get into movies. His current favorites are "101 Dalmatians", "How to Train Your Dragon", "Monsters, Inc." and "Shrek". I'm just happy he's moving away from "Alvin and the Chipmunks". You can only watch a movie SO MANY times...
*He can count to 10. I haven't tried to teach him anything past that, but there have been a few times that he'll go to 11 or skip to 14, 15 and 16.
*Can identify the colors orange, green, blue, pink, purple, brown and yellow (yeddo). For some reason he just can't get the hang of red- usually calls it green.
*He hasn't said his whole ABC's yet, but I know he could do it if he would try. He knows them all, but just won't put them together. He'll start and get up to G, then I'll take over and we go back and forth until we make it to the end.
*He still LOVES books and is starting to memorize them. He can pretty much read the majority of a few of his favorite ones.
*VERY independent (and stubborn). Tells us "I Doed It" when he wants to do something by himself or when he's accomplished something.
*When he hugs he says "EEEEEEEE" like he is squeezing really hard. He does that to both sides then will give you a kiss.
*Says "Hold you a minute".
*Puts "much" after his love yous and thank yous.
*Is obsessed with eating Pop-Tarts. Seriously- he wants them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also won't drink milk unless it's with Chocolate or Strawberry (which he calls "pink milk"). He loves strawberries and swedish fish.
*Sings and does actions (with help) to: "Popcorn Popping", "Wheels on the Bus", "5 Little Monkeys", "Itsy, Bitsy Spider", "Twinkle, Twinkle" and, of course, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

It's strange for me to think that it's already been 2 years since he was born when I remember it like it was yesterday. He's growing up so fast and is smart and funny and is (usually) a real joy to have around. I've never been happier then I am being his mom. It's challenging at times but is the most rewarding thing I've ever done by far. Words can't explain how much we love this little guy. I've been thinking that I need to record some of the things he does so that I'll always have them to remember (since he's growing and changing so fast) and on that note... here is his birthday theme song. (Notice when he says "Shane" for "shame". Too funny!) Enjoy...

**I couldn't get the video to download. Sorry!**

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCAS! WE LOVE YOU!
