Playing Catch-Up (Summer 2010)

I know, I know... I've been a serious slacker about blogging lately. But for all of you that still check this thing you are about to be very happy with me! One of my New Year's resolutions this coming year is to keep up with my blog (and get all caught up on Lucas' scrapbook/baby book) so I wanted to do an update of our year thus far.
(Note: Read this post from the bottom to the top. For some reason I have a hard time getting my pics in the order I want and I'm too behind to worry about it this time. Sorry!)

The majority of our summer was spent mostly at the park or camping in the mountains. Lucas really liked the park this year. He loved the swings and especially loved going down the big slides by himself. (I thought he was too little but he proved me wrong!) Shane and I both love the mountains so it's a good thing that Lucas does too. He had so much fun just being able to run around, ride the 4-wheeler and play in the dirt. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from these summer activities...

FYI- St. George has the coolest parks! Seriously- they have shade tents everywhere, huge things for the kids to play on and even splash pads! Makes me wish I lived in St. George... (Not really, but I wish we had something like this for the kids to play on!)
(His dang binkie! We seriously couldn't go anywhere without it this summer! Thankfully, we broke him of his "bink" in October.)
Swinging in the mountins!

Labor Day

I always remember being so excited for Labor Day because that meant the carnival would be in town. I'm sure it'll be like this with Lucas when he gets a little older but this year he wasn't really a huge fan of the rides. He warmed up to the Merry-Go-Round and the boats after awhile but seriously didn't seem to care if he ever went back. His favorite part of the whole thing was probably the petting zoo. He wanted to touch every animal and tried feeding the goats. It was pretty funny!

Hogle Zoo

We went to Idaho Falls for the 4th of July again but this time we decided to stop at Hogle Zoo on our way. It was Lucas' first time at a zoo and he seemed to like it. We are rookies and went during the hottest time of day so most of the animals were either sleeping or hiding out in the shade. Really, the only animals that we saw were monkeys, giraffes, elephants and a rhino.

Lake Powell

Right after we got back from Missouri we went to Lake Powell. I LOVE Lake Powell and I was so excited to see how Lucas would react to it. We had such a good time, with the exception of Shane. (He claims to hate the heat, the sand and the water but I think he secretly enjoyed it too- for the most part). We pulled our trailer to Lone Rock and camped along the shore, which I had never done before and will probably never do again. We ended up getting stuck in the sand and it seemed like more of a hassel then a help but whatever- you live and learn... right? Lucas really liked playing in the sand. In fact, he was so content to dig that he really didn't notice the lake; which was fine by me. :)

Cousins

Here's a picture of Lucas and his cousins on the day that we left Missouri. We love these kids and wished that we all lived closer together.

Hungry Boy!

So Lucas is 'Mr. Independent' lately and when it comes to feeding time he won't eat unless he gets to feed himself. I knew it could get a little interesting so I grabbed my camera and let him go for it!
He started out with his own fork...
And when it didn't work out the way he had planned he decided to give mine a try...
It was a little better, but still not good enough...
And when getting the bowl closer didn't seem to work, he just dove into it...
After all that, he still couldn't get any macaroni! That's when he just did it the easy way...
When this boy is hungry he'll do just about anything to get some food!
Say Cheese! :)

Fishin' Buddies

In honor of Father's Day I thought I'd post a little something for Shane...

WE LOVE YOU!

Fun Times in Missouri!

Day 2... Mississippi River

This is one of the locations where they close the gate if the river gets too high. The pictures above were taken from inside these walls. After this, we walked to an old ice cream parlor across the street and ate waffle cones. Yummy! Later that night we went to a park to catch fireflies. It doesn't matter to me how neat they are- they are still a bug in my book!

Day 3... Cape Splash Aquatics Center

Floating down the lazy river

Playing in the splash pad

We spent about 6 hours at this place today but it was a lot of fun! Lucas loved being in/around the water and hanging out with his cousins. :)

Greetings from St. Louis!

More pics to follow...

Up, Up & Away!

Checkin' things out before we took off...

Above the clouds!

Lucas flew like a champ on our plane ride to Missouri! Dad let us have the window seat so Lucas kept himself pretty entertained. After about an hour in the air he got tuckered out and slept until we landed. What a relief!

It's Official...

Lucas is ONE! I can't believe a year has gone by since we were in the hospital having the little guy!
(Where has the time gone?!?)

1st Birthday, Part 1

Here are some pics from Lucas' 1st birthday party. Pretty sure he had no idea what was going on but by the end of the day his new favorite word was "happy".
Picking up the balloons

I couldn't believe that he let me stick that bow to the top of his head but there was so much to distract him that he forgot all about it. It made for some cute pictures...

1st Birthday, Part 2

This was as messy as it got. (Not too bad if you ask me.) He wasn't even interested in eating it; the icing on his face was from me trying to get him to taste it and him turning his head to refuse it! What a crazy kid! Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCAS!

Here Comes Trouble!

Lucas officially started walking on May 13th! Ever since he learned how to crawl he's constantly been on the go; getting himself into mischief and making messes whenever the opportunity presents itself. Now I think we're really in for it... He'll be running around in no time!

Sand Hollow

We just got back from Sand Hollow and I wanted to post these before I forgot. This was the first time Lucas had been on a boat (and the first time he ate Twizzlers).

As you can see, he really enjoyed the Twizzlers. I tried to pull his hand out of his mouth to take one picture and he FREAKED OUT! At least he gave me a smile in this one.
Isn't he so cute in his little life-jacket?

We had such a nice day on the water and in the warm weather! Can't wait for Lake Powell! :)
