I know, I know... I've been a serious slacker about blogging lately. But for all of you that still check this thing you are about to be very happy with me! One of my New Year's resolutions this coming year is to keep up with my blog (and get all caught up on Lucas' scrapbook/baby book) so I wanted to do an update of our year thus far.
(Note: Read this post from the bottom to the top. For some reason I have a hard time getting my pics in the order I want and I'm too behind to worry about it this time. Sorry!)
The majority of our summer was spent mostly at the park or camping in the mountains. Lucas really liked the park this year. He loved the swings and especially loved going down the big slides by himself. (I thought he was too little but he proved me wrong!) Shane and I both love the mountains so it's a good thing that Lucas does too. He had so much fun just being able to run around, ride the 4-wheeler and play in the dirt. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from these summer activities...

Labor Day
I always remember being so excited for Labor Day because that meant the carnival would be in town. I'm sure it'll be like this with Lucas when he gets a little older but this year he wasn't really a huge fan of the rides. He warmed up to the Merry-Go-Round and the boats after awhile but seriously didn't seem to care if he ever went back. His favorite part of the whole thing was probably the petting zoo. He wanted to touch every animal and tried feeding the goats. It was pretty funny!

Hogle Zoo
We went to Idaho Falls for the 4th of July again but this time we decided to stop at Hogle Zoo on our way. It was Lucas' first time at a zoo and he seemed to like it. We are rookies and went during the hottest time of day so most of the animals were either sleeping or hiding out in the shade. Really, the only animals that we saw were monkeys, giraffes, elephants and a rhino.
Lake Powell
Right after we got back from Missouri we went to Lake Powell. I LOVE Lake Powell and I was so excited to see how Lucas would react to it. We had such a good time, with the exception of Shane. (He claims to hate the heat, the sand and the water but I think he secretly enjoyed it too- for the most part). We pulled our trailer to Lone Rock and camped along the shore, which I had never done before and will probably never do again. We ended up getting stuck in the sand and it seemed like more of a hassel then a help but whatever- you live and learn... right? Lucas really liked playing in the sand. In fact, he was so content to dig that he really didn't notice the lake; which was fine by me. :)
